Department Profile

The Department of Physical Education is an integral part of Arignar Anna Government Arts and Science College, dedicated to fostering the holistic development of our students. Recognizing the timeless principle that a healthy body houses a healthy mind, the department is deeply committed to promoting physical fitness, mental toughness, and the true spirit of sportsmanship across the campus.

Our department provides comprehensive training, guidance, and facilities for a wide range of athletic and sporting events, including Athletics, Badminton, Handball, Hockey, Football, Kabaddi, and Weight Lifting. We believe that sports education goes beyond the playground—it instills critical life skills such as discipline, leadership, teamwork, and resilience under pressure.

Over the years, our student-athletes have consistently brought immense pride and laurels to the institution. The department meticulously trains and mentors students who go on to dominate the Pondicherry University Inter-Collegiate Tournaments, and proudly represent the state and university in South Zone and All-India National Championships.
