53rd Annual Sports Report (2021-2022)

Achievements of our students in National and South Zone Inter-University Tournaments:

• Selvan. P. Hariharan (I B.Sc. Zoology) represented Pondicherry University in the South Zone Hockey Tournament for Men at Bangalore University, and the Pondicherry Junior Men National Championship at Madurai.
• Selvan. S. Silambarasan (III B.A. Economics) represented Pondicherry University in South Zone Kho-Kho.
• Selvan. T. Vishwa (I M.A. Economics) represented Pondicherry University in South Zone Football.
• Selvi. M. Akshaya (I M.A. English) represented Pondicherry University in South Zone Basketball.
• Selvan. Thamizhazhagan (III B.Sc. Computer Science) represented the Under 19 National Vinoo Mankad Cricket Tournament at Pondicherry, the Cooch Behar Cricket Tournament at Uttarakhand, and won the T10 Men Cricket Tournament (CAP/BCCI).
• Selvan. Goutham & Selvan. Krishna represented the T10 Men Cricket Tournament (CAP/BCCI).
• Selvi. S. Usha & Selvi. S. Snega represented the T10 Women Cricket Tournament (CAP/BCCI).
• Selvi. T. Punidhavalli (III B.A. Tamil) represented Puducherry in the Senior National Volleyball Tournament at Odisha.
• Selvan. G. Dhanush (III B.Sc Physics) participated in Zonal to International level Karate Championships, winning 12 Gold, 2 Silver, and 1 Bronze medals.

Intramural Sports Competitions

With the help of department captains, intramural sports competitions including Football, Volleyball, Throw Ball, Table Tennis, Chess, Cricket, Kabaddi, Badminton, Basketball, Handball, Kho-Kho, and Track & Field events were successfully conducted. A sports meet for staff was also successfully organized.

Championship Awards

• Individual Men: Shyam (III B.Sc Computer Science) - 35 points in track and field.
• Individual Women: Sivagame (I M.A. Public Administration) - 45 points in track and field.
• Fair Play Award: Department of Tamil.
• Best Department Captain: Thamizhazhagan (III B.Sc. Computer Science).
• Overall Championship (1st Place): Department of Economics.
• Overall Championship (2nd Place): Departments of Public Administration and Physics.
• Overall Championship (3rd Place): Department of Commerce.

Past Achievements (2011 - 2013)

• Selvan. S. Veeraman (I B.A Economics) won the Gold Medal in Inter-Collegiate Weight Lifting (2011-2012) – the first gold medal ever produced in the college. He also won the Best Weight Lifter Award for the state.
• Selvan. S. Mohan (II M.Com) won the Gold Medal in the Inter-Collegiate Swimming Competition (2012-2013).
• Selvan. K. Thirukumaran (III B.Sc Computer Science) represented Pondicherry University in the All India Inter-University Ball Badminton Tournament at Osmania University.
• Our Girls Kho-Kho team won 3rd place in the Inter-Collegiate Tournament (2011-2012).
